Adult Tap Class - SOLD OUT!

Adult tap at Theatre Lawrence is a class designed to bring all levels of tappers together to improve or begin your tap journey. This class will be an opportunity to work on tap fundamentals like time steps, pullbacks, cramp rolls, paradiddles, buffalos, maxi fords, and more. We will work on weight shifts and proper technique that make tapping second nature. At the end of each class, you will learn a fun new combo that integrates pivotal tap steps and challenges your brain to foot coordination. Use this class to become a better overall performer, be more competitive at auditions, and grow your passion for dance. Whether you’ve tapped your whole life or haven’t tapped a day in your life, this class is for you!

Creative Scene Lab: Movement, Devising & Classic Texts
This 8-session series is a laboratory in devised theater: a collaborative, ensemble-based approach to making performance that starts not with line readings, but with movement, imagery, and creative experimentation. Each session opens with theater games and warm-up exercises to shift into a creative headspace and connect with the group. Then we dig in. Using scenes from classic texts like Shakespeare as a launching pad, each class introduces a new hands-on tool — working with music, space, levels, tempo, and partner-based movement to unlock what the body knows before the brain gets involved.

The payoff is real and concrete. Actors leave with tools for stronger stage presence, bolder choices, a more embodied connection to character, and sharper instincts for responding to scene partners. Directors and choreographers leave with a toolkit of exercises they can bring directly into their next production — new ways of generating fresh, expressive staging that goes beyond conventional blocking. And for anyone new to theater, this is a chance to discover what theater feels like from the inside: to make something, be seen, and express yourself. No experience is necessary; the only requirement is curiosity and a willingness to play. You'll have the chance to share your work in a low-stakes final showcase performance and leave with a community of people who take play seriously.
