About the show:

On the eve of his assassination, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is visited by a mysterious stranger in this powerful reimagining of his final night. Set in a storm-lashed room at the Lorraine Motel, The Mountaintop is an intimate, poetic exploration of legacy, mortality, and the man behind the movement. A gripping and deeply human portrait of a legend at the crossroads of history.

Character Descriptions


DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. (Male, Black, 30s–40s)
A complex, deeply human portrayal of the civil rights leader in his final night. Charismatic, sharp-witted, burdened, and vulnerable beneath the public image. Requires strong emotional range, commanding presence, and the ability to move between humor, passion, and introspection.


CAMAE (Female, Black, 20s–30s)
A young Memphis hotel maid with fierce intelligence, bold humor, and surprising depth. Quick-tongued, playful, irreverent, and radiant. Carries a powerful emotional journey as the play unfolds. Requires excellent comic timing paired with dramatic strength.
