Shining the spotlight for 50 years

Nicole Olson • August 27, 2026

Dear Friends of Theatre Lawrence,

On behalf of the Board of Directors, welcome to Theatre Lawrence's 50th season! We are thrilled to shine the spotlight on another wonderful season and are honored to have you join us. For 50 years, we have brought joy to the stage through storytelling and community right here in Lawrence. In 1976, a dream of producing shows in our community was brought to life by Mary Doveton and her team of passionate volunteers and friends. 50 years later, that dream still shines brightly and remains our guiding star as we embark on this season.

The 2026-2027 season is a nod to the growth and history that we value here at Theatre Lawrence. From the reimagined Pirates! The Penzance Musical to classics like The Wizard of Oz and On Golden Pond, you will see and experience familiar songs and stories alongside new and exciting shows like Lizzie, a rock musical inspired by the sinister tale of Lizzie Borden and Come from Away, the Tony-award winning musical that brings to life the true story of a small Newfoundland town that welcomed thousands of stranded passengers in the wake of 9/11. The productions this season celebrate the power of storytelling and the importance of community.

Community theatre exists because of patrons like you. Every ticket purchased, every standing ovation, every volunteer hour, and every conversation shared in our lobby helps bring these productions to life. Your support allows us to create impactful experiences, provide opportunities for artists of all ages, and strengthen the cultural fabric of our community.

Thank you for choosing to spend your time with us and for supporting the volunteers, staff, and members who make this work possible. We hope this performance inspires, entertains, and reminds you of the power of gathering together to share a story.

We look forward to welcoming you back again and again for another 50 years.

With sincere gratitude,

Nicole Olson

President, Board of Directors
